Job Overview: 
The User Support Specialist provides support to internal end users of DISA’s proprietary and enterprise applications by performing the listed functions and responsibilities.

A Day In the Life:
• You will provide assistance to users of DISA applications by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or requests
• You will identify, research, and resolve technical problems
• You will use the IT Service Management system to review and respond to requests for support
• You will escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources or vendors
• You will author and edit documentation and procedures in the IT Knowledgebase
• You will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• You will perform maintenance of existing custom software, including end-user support
• You will monitor performance of applications after implementation
• You will communicate status and issues to upper management
• You will apply basic knowledge of the company’s core technologies to achieve the listed duties
• You will create test transactions and run tests to find errors and confirms that the program meets specifications
• You will analyze codes to find causes of errors and revise programs
• You will consult with internal users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs
• You will create documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes and corrections
• You will analyze, install, and test upgrades of externally developed application programs

 

Our Ideal Candidate:
• Has a Bachelor’s degree, or one year of related job experience supporting software applications, or an Associate’s degree with six (6) months of related experience
• Has exposure to software and hardware design principles
• Has experience working in a software development capacity
• Has exposure to programming technologies such as PHP, MySQL, Relational Database Design, and Linux OS
• Has experience working with LAMP   
• Has Python and Perl knowledge
• Has experience with HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, AJAX, json, and using API's with 3rd party services
