Architect, Data





  • Accountable for broad scope of enterprise data models and the evolution of existing,
    complex enterprise applications

  • Gathers and analyzes data requirements, and develops logical and physical data models
    in support of enterprise information management

  • Ensures that data models and designs support the integration of data / information flow
    across systems and platforms

  • Ensures maintenance of current data models to drive further enhancements

  • Analyzes and makes recommendations on the impact of database designs as they relate to
    conceptual data model

  • Identifies, leads and resolves inefficiencies in design

  • Accountable for design tools evaluation and participates in implementation of new tools

  • Updates and enforces data architecture policies, standards, and procedures

  • Triage database performance issues – use monitoring
         tools to identify bottlenecks and leverage knowledge of database
         performance concepts to resolve in concert with internal and external
  • Triage data issues – identify root source of problem
         data and implement measures to correct and prevent
  • Build and execute performance test plans against data access interfaces and databases to ensure they are efficient and scalable
  • Develop and execute data migration procedures for moving data between database platforms without service disruption
  • Ensure instrumentation of all data access interfaces
         and work with DevOps to ensure that all interfaces and databases are able
         to be monitored and alert under stress
  • Acts
    as Corporate Data Steward and ensures proper data governance and rigor to
    include accessibility and security compliance, and user authentication and

    • Accessibility and security
    • User authentication and
            authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
    • Integration of multiple data
            sources and databases into one system
    • Creating database schemas that
            represent and support business processes



  • 8+
    years of overall solution design and technical architecture, software and data engineering

  • 5+
    years in a database engineer/data architect role for enterprise data modeling

  • Strong SQL expertise: analytic functions, CTEs,
         transactions, complex queries
  • Extensive knowledge of database architectures and their
         trade-offs: row-stores, column-stores, MPP, IMDB, NoSQL
  • Proficiency in accessibility
         and security compliance, user authentication and authorization between
         multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Developed data strategies that
         define how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by
         different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using
         or processing the data
  • Designed and managed
         repositories that supports, at a minimum, the business, information,
         technology and solution viewpoints along with their relationships
  • Experience with one of the
         following toolsets: ERwin, SQL Server Management Studio, Power Designer
  • Develop data models from technical
         and functional requirements including:
    • Creating logical and physical
            data models for current and proposed states
    • Turning application designs
            into data model specifications
    • Understanding data storage
            requirements and estimate database growth
    • Designing OLAP and reporting
            tool data model requirements
    • Creating intuitive data models
            in business end user terminology
    • Constructing database
            normalization – 1st – 5NF
    • Utilizing data modeling tools
            to record, update, reverse engineer and generate DDL
  • Strong familiarity with database performance concepts
  • Leading data architecture and modeling efforts for
         large BI, Cloud and / or ERP projects
  • Experience with JIRA and a proven ability to work in an
         Agile environment
  • Strong
         understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle and
         project management disciplines.
  • Excellent
         organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and
         written) skills.
  • Ability to
         work well with people in all levels of the organization.



Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering or Information Systems
